What is The Sign?

The Sign is a parish inset. This is quite an old-fashioned word but it means basically that it is a pre-printed entire publication which can be melded into a local parish magazine.

The Sign is used by many hundreds of churches to improve and bulk up the look of their own local publication; cheaply and efficiently giving the local church a product of extra value, interest and readability.

The Sign is available to parishes in quantities ranging for as few as ten up to hundreds. It comes in both A5 and A4 formats, trimmed or untrimmed, folded or unfolded, with a colour cover too if required. Sample packs can be obtained by emailing jenny@hymnsam.co.uk

Advertising is an important, though frugal, part of the inset. This is national advertising with the kudos of local advertising - the best of all worlds. The Sign carries small ads such as holiday lettings (currently only  40p per word for a series of 13 bookings) and larger ads from charities and companies that can reach local church congregations. The Sign is possibly the only large-scale print medium left that is able to do this....

Details on small ads can be obtained from Kelly Farrer by emailing ads@churchtimes.co.uk and on larger and displayed format ads by emailing Stephen Dutton stephen@churchtimes.co.uk

The Sign incorporates Home Words and together these valuable insets sell each month in excess of 35,000 copies. This makes them still one of the largest selling single print publications covering the Anglican church.

The Sign has a website under construction but more information on all aspects of this valuable publication can always be obtained by calling 020 7776 1011 and speaking to Stephen Dutton.
